How To Self Check For Diastasis Recti

Does your back always hurt, even with simple tasks like loading the dishwasher? Do you worry you won't make it to the bathroom in time? Does pelvic pain cause you to shy away from intimacy? Can't get rid of that mommy pooch despite diet and exercise? You may have diastasis recti!

How do you know you have abdominal separation? Who do I even go to, to check on that?

It's actually quite simple and can be done in 5 simple steps. It's something you can do today, no equipment or special training necessary!

Step 1: Lie on your back on the floor (the bed is too soft), knees bent and feet flat on the floor.

Step 2: One hand remains on the floor and the other use the pointer and middle finger together to check at three places. Right at your belly button and about three fingers above and below your belly button.

Step 3: Lift head off floor while checking at first spot.

Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 for check points two and three.

Step 5: Self assess what is going on - were you able to fit 2 fingers or more in the gap? None?

Still confused if you checked yourself correctly? Check out the video below!
